Simple Politics was set up because Tatton didn’t like the way politics was reported.
It focused on personality no policy. It was deliberately confusing. It put people off the whole thing.
The timing was fortuitous for a project like this. Starting in 2015, the Brexit vote of 2016 was an interesting curtain opener. There was then had an election in 2017, Brexit fallout in 2018 and yet another election in 2019.
After the 2019 election, Tatton was thinking about winding up SP as the era of chaos was over. A few months later, the pandemic hit and SP became integral to the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
SP hopes to be a friend in your feed helping you keep up to date, to understand what’s going on and occasionally make you laugh. They won’t tell you what to think. They won’t hype stories for clicks.
